Process Orchestrator

Process Orchestrator

Model long-running, multi-step business processes in Dataverse with stages, tasks, gateways, escalations and versions.

Logic Process Orchestrator runs business processes that span people, teams and days: a case that moves from triage to investigation to resolution, an opportunity discount that needs one or more approvals, an order that is fulfilled in parallel by finance and logistics. You draw the process on a BPMN-style canvas, attach Logic Composer flows and expressions where you need logic, and publish it. Each time the process starts on a record, Process Orchestrator creates tasks for the right people, tracks due dates, escalates overdue work and records every step.

It goes beyond Dataverse business process flows: a process can branch and merge, run several stages at the same time, loop back for rework, start sub-processes, and read and update any table through logic flows.

A business process is a definition that belongs to a Logic Fabric project and runs on one table, its Process Entity (for example, Case or Opportunity). You design it in the process designer, publish it as a numbered version, and activate a version. Every start creates a process instance for one record.

Element What it is
Stage A step of work. It has a title, a Stage Owner, a due date, an assignment that creates one or more tasks, and Completion Criteria: a Yes/No expression that decides when the stage is done.
Transition A connector from a stage or gateway to the next element. Every transition that leaves a stage has a condition; the first true one, in Evaluation order, is taken.
Gateway A diamond that splits the path or merges paths. Exclusive (XOR) takes one path, Parallel (AND) takes all paths, Inclusive (OR) takes every path whose condition is true.
End Where a path finishes. A process needs at least one. The instance completes when no branch is left open.
Escalation stage A stage the process moves to when its parent stage passes its due date without being completed (the dashed Overdue connector above).
Stage flows Logic flows (or sub-processes) that run On Entering and On Exiting a stage, optionally only when a Run only when condition is true.
Process instance One run of a published version for one record. It is an activity with the status Open, Completed, Canceled or Faulted.
