Flow step reference

Every step you can add to a logic flow, grouped by the categories of the step picker, with what each one does.

The logic flow designer offers 43 steps, grouped into the same seven categories you see as filters in the step picker: Records, Queries, Variables, Control, Logic, Messages and Integration. Inside each category, the picker lists steps alphabetically.

  • Step Name (required). Suggested from the type, for example GetEntityById1. It must be unique in its branch, can be up to 50 characters, and accepts letters, digits, spaces, _ and -. The step’s variables are named after it, so choose a meaningful name.
  • Docs tab: optional notes about the step, opened later from the step’s ⋯ menu > Documentation.
  • Most value fields are expressions, built in the expression editor from inputs, data, earlier steps’ variables, constants and functions.

A step that fails ends the flow with an error. To keep going after a failure, put the steps in a Try / Catch.

The picker descriptions say “row” on Dataverse and “record” on-premises.
